Enes Debran: Eidos

CerModern is hosting the solo exhibition of Enes Debran titled “Eidos”, consisting of a selection of works created by the artist who uses portraits as a tool in the journey of perceiving the essence of consciousness. ‘Eidos’, leaving its meaning as ‘form’ defined in the ancient world, gains a new meaning as ‘ a perception of coincidental beauty’ in Debran’s portraits.

Enes Debran, who is defining his creation process as risk-taking and renunciation, tries to express the phenomenon of form, in other words, the purest form of the sensate appearance through his portraits that are shaped in a natural motion. With the realistic expression which is a rememorative of the ancient sculptors, the state of being in limbo and the mysterious contradiction, the artist manages to attract the attention of the viewer at first sight.

Enes Debran, through his portraits, demolishes the rule of ‘single form in imagery’ defended by the ancients. In the portraits that he created as identical in nature with himself, it can be openly seen that the paper material he choses for his works is not a random decision. The material of processed paper turns into someting immanent in itself, combined with the aesthetic concern of the artist.

Enes Debran, taking the audience on a meaningful journey among the concepts of ancient and modern, idea and image, woman and man, alive and dead, expresses the state of being in limbo in his portraits in relation to his own life, consciousness and flow of thought
